Homemade Peppermint White Hot Chocolate in Minutes

Peppermint White Hot Chocolate is really easy to make! You just need a saucepan and a few minutes to whip this up. You’ll start by melting together the cocoa butter, coconut milk, and sugar.

Once they’re melted, you stir in your choice of milk, along with the peppermint extract, and heat it for another minute or so until it’s warmed through. That’s it!

Optionally, top your hot chocolate with a big old dollop of whipped cream and some crushed peppermint candies, for extra deliciousness.

About Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter is vegan. It probably comes as no surprise that it comes from cocoa beans, and is what is used to make chocolate and all sorts of yummy sweet things.

If you can’t find cocoa butter, you can replace this with white chocolate chips, and omit the sugar.

Eating Together Made Easy

Regular readers will know that my site is all about providing adaptable recipes so that it’s easy for people with different diets to dine together. This recipe is easily made either vegan or vegetarian. The base ingredients are cocoa butter, coconut milk, sugar, and peppermint extract.

If you want to make the vegan version, you’ll add your favourite plant-based milk to the mix. If you’re vegetarian, you’ll add cow milk. I just use 2% milk as the drink gets its richness from the cocoa butter and coconut milk.

Recipe Notes

Replacement for Cocoa Butter

If you can’t find cocoa butter, you can replace it with white chocolate chips, and omit the sugar.

Storage and Reheating

This is best served hot, but you can store it safely in the fridge for a few days. The cocoa butter will start to separate when the hot chocolate is cold, but reheating it over a low temperature while stirring should bring it back together.
