If you love caramelized onions, this rich and creamy Caramelized Onion Dip is for you. Made without dairy, tofu, cashews, or mayonnaise, this plant-based dip is perfect for a party. Serve it with your favourite dippers: potato chips or crunchy colourful veggies such as carrots, cucumber, or celery.

Ingredients
3tablespoonsolive oil[Or substitute with another neutral-flavoured cooking oil]
2cupsonions, diced
2teaspoonscoconut sugar[Or substitute with any granulated sugar]
1/2cup almond flour [also known as ground blanched almonds]
2tablespoonstapioca starch[also known as tapioca flour]
1 1/2 tablespoonnutritional yeast
1/2teaspoonsalt
Instructions
Heat the oil in a large frying pan.
Add the diced onions and fry over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
Turn the heat down to low, stir in the sugar, and cook for another 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Add the balsamic vinegar, onion powder, and salt (to taste).
Remove half of the onions and add them to a blender with Mother Mix (or equivalent ingredients) and water. Blend on high for 1 minute.
Before adding the sauce back to the frying pan, remove 1-2 tablespoons of the onions for garnishing the dip later. Add the Mother Mix sauce back to the frying pan. Cook and stir over medium-low heat until the dip is thickened, about 5-8minutes.
