If you like beets, you’ll love this delicious beet latte flavoured with maple syrup, cinnamon, cardamom and beetroot powder. It’s great hot or cold!

Making Beet Lattes
This recipe is super simple. It’s really just two steps. Step one is making a paste of the beetroot powder, maple syrup, spices and a small amount of the milk.
If you’ve never used beetroot powder before, this is a good recipe to start with. Unsurprisingly, beetroot powder tastes like beets — earthy and a little bit sweet. It’s just finely ground, dehydrated beets. I used store bought powder, but if you’re a keener you can find recipes to make your own.

The second step is adding the paste to a saucepan along with additional milk. You can use any kind of milk you want for this, whether it be dairy milk or a plant-based milk. If you only have sweetened milk on hand, hold back on the maple syrup until you taste it and the add it according to how sweet you want it.
Now you just need to heat the beet latte until it’s warm. It’s actually really delicious cold too, so a good idea is to make extra. It will keep in the fridge for 2 or 3 days.
Eating Together Made Easy
You can make this recipe with any kind of unsweetened plant milk, or use dairy if you are not vegan or plant-based. This recipe is a single-serving, but if you wanted to make multiple servings, with different types of milk for each serving, you could mix up the maple syrup, beetroot powder and spices and then divide that into smaller bowls before adding the different milks.

Beet Latte
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened milk of choice
- 2 teaspoons maple syrup {or sub with any liquid sweetener of your choice}
- 1 tablespoon beetroot powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cardamom
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the maple syrup, beetroot powder, and spices.
- Add a little bit of the milk to the bowl and stir it until it becomes a paste.
- Add the paste to a small saucepan and then stir in the remaining milk. Heat over medium high for a few minutes.
Notes
- Beetroot powder tastes just like beets, earthy and a little bit sweet. It’s just finely ground, dehydrated beets. I used store bought powder, but if you’re a keener you can find recipes to make your own.
- Make sure you get any lumps out of the beetroot powder before you blend it with the other spices.
- This is also delicious cold!
- If you can only find sweetened milk, I’d make the recipe first without the maple syrup and add before drinking if you think you need it.
